With Jaguar wanting to continue racing were it had left off with the Le Mans-winning D-Type, stylist Malcolm Sayer was called in to set about a Low Drag lightweight version of the road going E-Type. One was factory constructed, two were converted from factory lightweights. When tested it was noted that the Low Drag was more capable and more aerodynamic than Ferrari’s 250 GTO. But what if you wanted to combine the style of the Low Drag with the on-road temperament of the standard E-Type? That’s where this car comes into play.

Sussex England-based Eagle is world famous for its improved and upgraded E-Types and this Low Drag GT certainly exemplifies the fact. Reimagined using an existing 1968 E-Type Coupe, this Low Drag GT benefits from a 5-speed transmission, clever suspension geometry changes, uprated dampers, as well as a rebuilt and gently tuned engine. Subtly, the car stands on large-diameter dark grey peg-drive wheels of magnesium which rectifies the E-Type’s one minor styling fault: too narrow a track.

This Low Drag GT is a bespoke, one-off commission, unique to request of the individual who commissioned it. The body is built entirely of lightweight aluminum alloy with a lowered floor and lengthened doors for improved cabin space. It’s engine, made of aluminum, is connected to an aluminum transmission with limited slip differential.

Undoubtedly one of the best classic cars we have ever driven, it very likely is one of best supercars we have ever driven. For further information, please enquire within.
